I am not alone09/15/2010 01:09:59
I never realized my story was already out there. So many people fell the same as I do. I was diagnosed 9 years ago at age 25. It started with my left pinky; it felt like I needed to "pop" it. Then it moved to my hands, wrists, shoulders and hips. I felt like I was 90. My room mate had to change my daughter because I was afraid to pick her up. After 4 days in the hospital the doctors told me I had Lupus. At first I was put on a laundry list of drugs. But I have since stopped all but the anti inflammatory. I am lucky. I have mild flairs and while the pain is chronic it,Aeos not severe. I sound like a bowl of rice crispies in the morning but I can deal. The most frightening this was when I started getting dizzy and forgetting words. I knew the word but couldn't remember how to say it. I could even see it in my head but couldn't make my mouth say it. I went for MRI's and blood work. I was sent to a neurooncologist. They thought I had a tumor or had had a stroke. But no just chalk it up to one more symptom. I eat right, work out 5 days a week. That helps. And my husband has been a dream. He does what I can't and lets me rest when I need to. We need to push for a cure! October is also Lupus Awareness month don,Aeot forget. We need to get out there and make sure we are not forgotten. We need to fight for reserch.
